Mountain Home Family History Group

Mountain Home Family History Group In-Person

This group is for everyone doing genealogy and working on their family history.  If you are brand new to genealogy or have been doing it for quite a few years, this group is for you!  Hopefully, the more experienced genealogists can lend and share their experiences with the rest of the group as time moves along.

We want to stress that this group will be for anyone researching their family history.  It doesn’t matter where your family came from or where you came from, we want to assist and provide direction for anyone working on their family, not just for those individuals whose ancestors are in Idaho.  As fluid as people move around these days, we want to help everyone with their family history!  Hopefully, we will have fun in the process!

This month, we will be spending some time recapping some of the things that came out of RootsTech in Salt Lake City.  I will spend a few minutes taking you to the MyHeritage.com website now that the Mountain Home Library has it on their website.  We will also be looking a little farther in-depth into the Bureau of Land Management – General Land Office records website www.glorecords.blm.gov.  Then, we will start taking a look at Census records, including both the Federal Census and the State Censuses.  We will wrap up the session by looking at a few more websites that are useful for genealogy and family history research, both FREE websites and paid subscriber websites.  So, as usual, we will have plenty to talk about and discuss.

Feel free to bring your own laptop for this meeting.  If you don’t want to bring your own, you can check one out at the library, although they don’t have many laptops to lend out, please bring your library card for that!  I will have a handout for you to take notes on.
