2024 Summer Reading Program In-Person
The Summer Reading Program theme this year is “We Scream for Books”. Choose from a vast selection of popular and classic books to read all summer long and earn popular prizes. SRP is designed to help kids maintain or improve the reading skills they developed during the school year throughout the summer and is available to ALL kids ages birth through 18. (Non-residential students can receive a FREE library card for the duration of SRP to check out books.) This six-week program will include take & make crafts, a teen night, fun family events, and parent baskets. We also have an “I found in my town...” scavenger hunt for an additional prize and raffle tickets. Summer Reading Program officially begins Saturday, June 1st! The last day to report your reading will be Saturday, July 13th!
How it works:
- Choose to track either the number of minutes you read OR the number of books.
- If you are being read to or learning to read, you should track the number of books.
- If you are reading on your own, you should track the number of minutes.
- For each day you read, fill in that day's square with the number of books/minutes read.
- Each week, add up the total amount read and mark it on that week's corresponding scoop of ice cream on your read log.
- Fill out a paper scoop of ice cream with one (1) word or a picture that describes your book.
- Exceptionally descriptive words or impressive artwork will be put into an additional weekly raffle!
- If you are too young to write, you may draw a picture
- If you are old enough to write, you should write a word
- Report once a week, Monday, June 3rd through Saturday, July 13th at the library with a completed paper scoop of ice cream to receive weekly incentives and collect raffle tickets.
- Report any day, Monday through Friday (9:30am-5:30pm) or Saturday (10:00am-4:00pm) . You don’t have to wait until the end of the week.
- Weekly incentives are earned by reporting your reading progress every week and turning in your paper scoop of ice cream.
- Different incentives are assigned each week and can only be earned during their assigned week.
- Incentives are limited.
- Incentives from missed weeks will NOT be given out.
- Earn one (1) raffle ticket for every WEEK you are reading.
- If you cannot report every week, you may still collect your raffle ticket(s) earned from the previous week(s).
- Weekly raffle prizes will be drawn on the Monday following each week for the first 5 weeks.
-
The grand prize raffle for week 6 will be drawn LIVE on our Facebook page on Wednesday, July 17th at 3:00 pm.
- Continue to read & record every day.
- Ten (10) extra raffle tickets will be given at the end of the program to participants who read every day.
- Preferably, check out at least one (1) library book per week.
- Complete the “I found in my town...” Scavenger Hunt to earn five (5) extra raffle tickets and a bonus prize.
