Growing Gardeners

Gowing Gardeners is back and the classes are so fun! Join Meghan at the library every Saturday at 11:00 am (April 6th - May 11th) for gardening classes.  Each class is approximately 1 - 1.5 hours and begins at 11:00 am. Earn tickets by attending classes. Each ticket gets you a chance to win fun garden prizes! The program will end on May 11th with a project day making Mother's Day baskets.  Each class of these FREE classes is a stand-alone class and designed for ages 15 years and older. 

The project day is also FREE but limited supplies are available so registration is required for the project day. Register in person for the project day with Meghan at one of the classes before. 

April 6th: Planning a Garden 

April 13th: Seed swap & Seed Tape

April 20th: Edible Flowers

April 27th: Idaho Native Plants

May 4th: Pollinators/Birds

May 11th: Mother's Day Basket Project (Registration is required for the project. Register with Meghan at a previous class).

 

This week's class will focus on Idaho native plants. 

Roger Rosentreter will give a presentation on native Idaho plants. The library will provide a pizza lunch to all in attendance. This educational presentation is FREE and open to the public.

Roger earned his PhD in botany at the University of Montana. He retired from a 35-year career as the Idaho Bureau of Land Management state botanist. He has authored over 100 scientific publications and is an author/co-author of six botanical reference books. He has worked on biology and conservation plant and animal species. In 2008, he received the Idaho Weed Hall of Fame Award. In his spare time, Roger is an avid kayaker and naturalist.
