Drop Everything and Read Day

Drop Everything and Read Day In-Person

D.E.A.R. stands for "Drop Everything and Read," a national celebration of reading designed to remind families to make reading a priority in their lives. This day is also a celebration of the birth of one of America's most successful authors, Beverly Cleary.  Beverly Cleary is an American children's book and young adult author, well-known for her Romona books.

In honor of Beverly Cleary's birthday and D.E.A.R. Day, the library will drop everything and read for 108 seconds (in honor of the age Beverly Cleary would have been this year) on Thursdays, April 11th at 3:30 pm.  After 108 seconds of reading, we will have a small celebration in Youth Services.

* We will read for 108 seconds but traditionally on D.E.A.R. Day, families are encouraged to read together for 30 minutes.
